Book Review: Ragged Hope-Surviving the Fallotu of Other People's Choices by Cynthia Ruchti
About the Book:
About Ragged Hope: "What a beautiful book ! So readable, the pages practically turned themselves. Ragged Hope is filled with stories; written for those who are weary, worn and wounded. It offers each of us exactly that-hope that God can do a mighty work even with those of us who carry the ugliest of scars."

I've got your back by Book Review
FTC:: This post was written for Handlebar , who provided the complimentary product in exchange for my honest review.

If Jesus wrote a book about leadership today, he would tell a story. That's what the author decided when he tore up his first draft. Instead, he wrote a parable about four twenty-somethings who are having major problems with bad bosses. Jack Hendrickson, a retired Army Special Forces Sergeant and former missionary, begins to teach them Biblical principles about leadership and when they put it into practice at work, it makes their lives worse! Experienced leaders are calling I've Got Your Back a landmark book to help next generation leaders with a Biblical foundation for leadership. Many talented young people have been victims of follower abuse. They don't want anything to do with leadership positions. Some have issues with authority and need guidance to heal. Galvin writes about a new kind of leader the world is desperate to follow. At the end of the parable, the author outlines Biblical principles of followership, as well as leadership, because everybody needs to learn how to lead and follow well.
My thoughts About the Book:
At first I was leery of reading this book. I thought it would be the same old approach to Biblical leadership. But I was completely and surprisingly wrong. This book offers a fresh new take on leadership. It addresses follower abuse and how to heal from it. It also offers a practical easy approach to leadership. I really like the qualities of being a good follower as well. The concepts addressed in this book will help people in every area of their lives.

Worry Wart
Of course, as soon as I made this decision I was but to the test.
Philippians 4:6-7 : Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Do you struggle with worry? How do you deal with worry?

Book Review: New Wings a Novel by Donna Stanley
I am reviewing this book for GlassRoad Public Relations for honest review. and received no compensation for a favorable review.

About the Book:
Olivia Stanton always knew that the Bible says guardian angels exist. But, in all her seventeen years, she assumed they only showed up when people were dying or needed rescue from sudden disaster. Her assumption is shattered with the appearance of her own guardian angel - in the form of good-looking Mike, no less. As Olivia gets to know Mike, more and more of her misconceptions about the spiritual realms are revealed. And, as her spiritual eyes are opened to the presence of angels all around, she'll find they can be good or evil.
My thoughts about the book:
This book will change the way you think! It opens your eyes to spiritual warfare and helps you to become more aware things going on around you. This book shows people how prayers impact the spiritual world in ways we can't see or imagine. This book is riveting once you start reading it you will not be able to put it down. This novel is geared toward young adults as an alternative to books about vampires, werewolves, witches and demons. The novel does a great job of dealing with the paranormal genre in a positive manner. This book is a great read with an engaging story and interesting characters.
About the Author:
Donna Stanley lives in the beautiful Endless Mountains of northeastern Pennsylvania with her husband, Jonathan, and their teenage daughter, Olivia. She attended Philadelphia Biblical University, Moody Bible Institute, and Mansfield University, where she studied angelology, demonology, and the anthropology of religion. She was a youth leader for ten years and a pastor's wife for sixteen years. She now serves as a young adult mentor and leader in her local church.

Book Review: Undeniably Yours By Becky Wade

About Undeniably Yours:
When Meg Cole's father dies unexpectedly, she's forced to return home to Texas and to Whispering Creek Ranch to take up the reins of his empire. The last thing she has the patience or the sanity to deal with? Her father's Thoroughbred racehorse farm. She gives its manager, Bo Porter, six months to close the place down.
Bo knows he ought to resent the woman who's determined to take from him the only job he ever wanted. But instead of anger, Meg evokes within him a profound desire to protect. The more time he spends with her, the more he longs to overcome every obstacle that separates them and earn her love.
Just when Meg realizes she can no longer deny the depth of her feelings for Bo, their fragile bond is broken by a force from Meg's past. Can their relationship-and their belief that God can work through every circumstance-survive?

I was hesitant to review this book because I feel that most romance books are "read one, read them all" types of novels. However, I couldn't have been more wrong about Undeniably Yours. I really like how the author makes the character's romance real. It's not a story full of "they live happy ever after". Her hero and heroine go through hard times and they get through these hard times together. I like that the story line is real and honest and has spiritual undertones. The twist at the end will surprise you. I highly recommend reading Undeniably Yours if you are looking for a superb, enjoyable, not your every day run of the mill romance.

The Cat that God Sent Book Review
About the Book: About The Cat That God Sent:
Meet Petey, your not-so-average cat-on a mission from God
Disillusioned young pastor, Jake Wilkerson, has just arrived at his new assignment in the small rural church of Coudersport, Pennsylvania. Also new on the scene is Petey, a cat of unknown origins and breed-but of great perception.
As Jake sets about doing the business of ministry, Petey's continued interference brings chaos to the community of curiously off and eccentric people-residents like the faith-avoiding veterinarian Sally Grainger and Tassy, a young runaway with a secret. An expert at hiding his fears, Jake wonders if all this-and the cat to boot-is more than he can handle. What is Petey's real "mission"? Perhaps something larger than Jake---or even Petey---can possibly know.

My thoughts about the book:
This is a delightful book. Jim Kraus does an amazing job of creating a story that's filled with humor, drama, action and romance. This story shows that God can use unique circumstances and people. The plot has a surprise twist. Once I got into this book I couldn't put it down! I look forward to reading other books by Jim Kraus.

My Thoughts About the Book
I have to admit when I saw the title of the book I thought that it would be just another romance book. I couldn't have been more wrong. It's a romance as well as a book about God's grace. The book is beautifully written so that it weaves a beautiful story full of romance, faith, drama, and history. Once I started reading this book I could not put it down!
I highly recommend this story for anyone wanting a light, easy, enjoyable read about romance and faith.

Thoughts on Boston and West, Texas
This week has been a crazy week in our nation. Here are my own meandering thoughts regarding the Boston Marathon Terror Attacks and the Waco Fertilizer Plant Explosion.
We all knew that after 9/11 it would only be a matter of time before another terror attack would occur. However, reality of another attack stirs up old scars. Scars of anxiety, fear and sadness and unexplained loss. Yet in the midst of the dark and dreary time a light can still can be seen. A ray of resilience. The Unstoppable spirit of the American people. Laying aside their differences and banding together for the sake of helping their fellow countrymen. Many giving from their hearts as well as their pocketbooks. The first responders dropping everything to help others. A ray of hope. Knowing that this is not the end and to keep moving forward moment by moment. In these dark and trying times I have never been more proud to be an American.

Book Review: Freefall to Fly: A Breathtaking Journey Toward a life of Meaning by Rebekah Lyons
I received a free copy of this book/Ebook/Product to review. I was not required to write a positive review nor was I compensated in any other way. The opinions I have expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the FTC Regulations. I am a part of Handlebar Publishing
About The Book
Women today are fading. In a female culture built on Photoshopped perfection and Pinterest fantasies, we've lost the ability to dream our own big dreams. So busy trying to do it all and have it all, we've missed the life we were really designed for. And we are paying the price. The rise of loneliness, depression, and anxiety among the female population in Western cultures is at an all-time high. Overall, women are two and a half times more likely to take antidepressants than men. What is it about our culture, the expectations, and our way of life that is breaking women down in unprecedented ways?
In this vulnerable memoir of transformation, Rebekah Lyons shares her journey from Atlanta, Georgia, to the heart of Manhattan, where she found herself blindsided by crippling depression and anxiety. Overwhelmed by the pressure to be domestically efficient, professionally astute, and physically attractive, Rebekah finally realized that freedom can come only by facing our greatest fears and fully surrendering to God's call on our lives. This book is an invitation for all women to take that first step toward freedom. For it is only when we free-fall that we can truly fly.
My thoughts about the book
I was instantly drawn in by this book. It was as if Rebekah Lyons was looking into my life and my struggles. I often wonder what my purpose is and how I can start living it. Lyons helps us to see that true surrender to God will help us find a life more satisfying than we can imagine. I really liked the way the author used quotes at the beginning of the chapters to tie in her theme. This book is a short but powerful read.
About the Author

As a self-confessed mess, Rebekah wears her heart on her sleeve, a benefit to friends and readers alike.
Alongside her husband, Gabe, Rebekah serves as cofounder of Q Ideas, a nonprofit organization that helps Christian leaders winsomely engage culture. Her favorite pastime is spent with her nose in a book and a discriminating cup of coffee in hand. You can find Rebekah on Twitter and Facebook.

The Jewel TriologyAnthology by Hallee Bridgeman

About the book:
This is a collection of all three books in the Jewel Trilogy: Sapphire Ice, Emerald Fire, and (best selling) Topaz Heat! Saphire Ice-Robin’s heart is as cold as her deep blue eyes. After a terrifying childhood, she trusts neither God nor men. With kindness and faith, Tony prays for the opportunity to shatter the wall of ice around her heart. When a frigid phantom from the forgotten past threatens their future, Tony’s unshakable confidence and Robin’s new-found faith must melt the threatening maelstrom.
Emerald Fire-Green eyed Maxine fights daily to extinguish the embers of her fiery youth. Long time friend Barry’s faith in God is deeply shaken when he is suddenly widowed. One spontaneous weekend shortly after the funeral, in the most unlikely of circumstances, they elope. But catastrophe threatens to wreck the happily ever after love story neither of them ever dreamed could come true. Only trusting God can carry them through the fire. Topaz Heat-Amber eyed Sarah remembers absolutely nothing from her bloodcurdling younger years. Derrick fled a young life of crime to become a billionaire’s successful protégé. The very instant Derrick meets Sarah, the temperature starts to rise. After years of ignoring the spark between them, Sarah’s honey colored eyes finally see beyond Derrick’s violent youth. Just as they surrender to love, the patient past springs a decade old snare. Now the heat is on. Sarah and Derrick must truly live their faith to make it through.
My thoughts:
All the books in the Jewel Trilogy will get and keep your attention from the first word. They cleverly intertwine all the elements of a well written story without compromising Christian values. I have to admit I was a little worried when I saw it was an edgy Christian romance, however Hallee gave some spice to the novel while keeping it clean and enjoyable. I love how the stories talk about living out your faith and that with God nothing is impossible. I recommend this series of novels by Hallee Bridgeman to anyone looking for a great read. I cant wait to see what she will write next.
About the Author:
Hallee Bridgeman lives with her husband and their three children in small town Kentucky. When she’s not writing Christian romance novels, she blogs about all things cooking and homemaking at Hallee the Homemaker.
Hallee started writing when her oldest child and only daughter was a baby, but a busy professional career and being the wife of a deployed soldier had her shelve her books for another time. Two more children, a cross country move, and God’s perfect timing brought the books off of the shelf to be dusted off and presented to you now.
Hallee loves coffee, campy action movies, and regular date nights with her husband. Above all else, she loves God with all of her heart, soul, mind, and strength; has been redeemed by the blood of Jesus Christ; and relies on the presence of the Holy Spirit. She prays her books are a blessing to you and would love to hear back from you.

Shapely Girl Fitness Challenge
I'm super excited to be participating in the Shapelygirl Fitness Review and Challenge this month. First a little about Debra Mazda and then on to me and the challenge.
I absolutely LOVE Debra Mazda's philosphy on fitness. She describes her fitness program Shapelygirl "...as a safe, fun and energizing program for women of all sizes to move, breathe and feel great. The ShapelyGirl Workout is more than just an exercise routine. It's a positive way of thinking about your body and your health. Debra says, "most women believe they have to lose weight before they can take a fitness class. They often feel too intimidated to walk into a health club. They put off thinking about exercising - in fact many women I know really put their entire lives on hold until the "someday" when they reach that magical number on the scale. That scale that is supposed to let them know that it's time to start living. I'm encouraging women to start moving and start living now. Whatever size you are or want to be, whatever diet you intend to start on Monday, no matter how many times you've tried and failed to make healthy changes in your life, you need to start moving today! That's what The ShapelyGirl Workout is all about."
She describes a Shapelygirl as- She's passionate, positive and confident in her curves. She is moving forward to better health. She's comfortable in her body and knows FITNESS COMES IN MANY SIZES. A ShapelyGirl doesnt let her dress size dictate how she feels about herself. She knows who she is, gets up when she falls and never gives up. ShapelyGirls are re-defining what fashion, fitness and beauty mean. No matter where you are on your journey come and join us in the ShapelyGirl Community for ideas, motivation and success stories from ShapelyGirls everywhere." I love this! I want to be a Shapelygirl. No wait I WILL be a Shapelygirl! I also love that she has a no diet contract. Debra encouarges healthy eating and movement not diets. You can download your own copy of the no diet contract here.
You too can become a Shapelygirl! Debra Mazda's products are available at Shapelygirl Fitness You can also follow Debra Mazda on Twitter @DebraMazda . You can also connect with ShapelyGirl Fitness on Facebook.
I will be reviewing Debra's Let's Get Moving 2: Cardio with Weights for the the entire month of October.

I've agreed to work out 3 times a week to the video. I am reviewing this video for the Christian Woman's Review
Now for a little about me
I've been chubby all my life. I am guilty of emotional eating. I am very slowly but surely making progress in this area though. I have medical issues that affected my weight and my life. I have been over weight as much as 300 lbs. My husband and I started eating heathier and exercising several years ago but I just recently started getting serious about my health. I know I will never be a single digit size of clothing. I am totally ok with that. I am not okay with being unhealthy anymore. I want the last three fourths of my life to be the best it can be! I'm 5'11" (one inch away from 6"-so near yet so far! ) I am currently down to 244 but my goal is 200. Here's a picture of me now

Mother Of Pearl by Kellie Coates Gilbert Book Review

About the Book:
Once I started reading this book, I could not put it down. This is an easy read that deals with current tough issues. The author uses these issues to show God's mercy and grace. I cried in this book and that's not normal for me. I cried because of the tragedy the family had to deal with as well as how all things worked out together for good. I can totally see this book being made in to a made for tv movie on lifetime. I look forward to reading Kellie Coates Gilbert's next novel.
