The New Jelly Bean Prayer

The NEW Jelly Bean Prayer
~Rewritten by Lorelei Francis~

Red is for the blood He gave,
Green is for the grass He made,
Yellow is for the sun so bright,
Orange is for the edge of night.

Black, white, brown, yellow and red is for the children He made
All of these colors receive the grace He gave,
Purple is for the hour of sorrow,
Pink is for the new tomorrow.

Give a bag full of jelly beans,
Colorful and sweet,
Tell them it's a Prayer....
It's a promise..
It's an Easter Treat!

C is for Calico Cat-day 3 in the A to Z Blogging Challenge

C is for Calico Cat

C is for Calico  Cat-not just any cat my calico cat.   A calico cat is a cat that is  tri-colored, with patches of white, red or orange, and black fur
My calico cat's name is Nosy Rosie. I call her Rosie for short. I named her Nosy Rosie because when I brought her home she nosed and looked around everywhere. Literally! From on top of the kitchen table, to under the couch, to up on top of the curtains! She still likes to nose around some but not as much as she use to. At nine cat years old (52 in human years) I just don't think she gives a crap anymore. She snuggles with me almost every night and she'll get up and hang out with me while everyone else is still in bed. Lately she has decided to take on the role of my alarm clock. She does a great job of getting me up at the right time. Now, if I can only get her not to "go off" on the weekends.
She's also very quirky. I have never EVER chased her with a broom or even thought about it for that matter. However, as soon as she sees the broom she flips out and goes into hiding. Rosie has even managed to teach Sophie (our dog) to be afraid of the broom. Rosie also hates to be picked up. Does not matter who or why-- she hates it regardless!. I pick her up anyway and she starts telling me what she thinks of me. When Rosie is upset meows are short and crisp They sound very similar to a dog barking. Weird hunh? I am glad that I can't understand what she telling me because I know its not very nice.
She also has this tongue thing. Well at least she used to. Rosie used to stick out her tongue when she's mad. I'm not kidding.! She would do it and it was so funny that as soon I saw it I would bust out laughing. She did that quite a while but I think she finally got tired of me laughing at her. I'm sure she's probably giving me the bird with one of her paws. now. I just haven't noticed yet.
Still despite her quirkiness I would not trade her for the world. She is very loyal and loving. This is Rosie my calico cat. Do you or have you ever had a cat? What did you think of them? Did they do anything unique or quirky?

B is for Bucket List

I like to thank everyone who's stopped by and commented on my letter A post. I really appreciate your kindness. Today I've chosen Bucket List for the letter B. No I have not seen the movie or read the book.I am intrigued by the concept though. It got me thinking about what things would I want to do if I only had one year (or less) left to live. I decided to create a list (my bucket list or life list) of things I would love to do before I die--and stop putting off my dreams for "someday".  Here's my list.

Carol's Bucket List
1. Ride a gondola in Venice.
2. Go bungee jumping. (not really sure why I want to do this one since I am afrad of heights but I do)
3. Ride a horse along the beach at sunset
4. Learn a foreign language and speak it fluently.( I know Spanish but I am not fluent in it....yet)
5. Learn to belly dance (it looks like fun and is supposed to be a great workout. I'm sure my hubby would like it too!)
6. Travel to all 50 states
7. To go to the Louvre (even better would be to work at the Louvre)

10. Go camping in Alaska
11. To learn how to two-step (I am from Texas you think I'd know how to two-step)
12. To throw a huge party and invite every one of my friends
13. To learn to roller skate
14. To see every show on Broadway
15. To ride a train
16. To make love in every room of the house (with my hubby of course!)
17. Dance and sing in the rain (Like Gene Kelly)
18. Have art show with only my art
19. Scuba dive in a coral reef
20. Learn to accept myself for who I am
21.  Learn to play piano
25. Dress up as a clown and cheer up sick kids
26. Be a children's librarian
27. Go to Australia and New Zealand
28 Go to every Renaissance fair in the state of Texas
29.  See the Sistine Chapel
30. Read the Bible from cover to cover

Do you have a bucket list? If so, would you share some of the things on your Bucket List? If you don't have a Bucket List I want you to make one. No one is assured of tomorrow so make the most of today. Find the joy in your life!

A is for Aquarium-Day 1 of blogging A to Z challenge

A is for Aquarium

Today is the first day of blogging challenge posted by tossing it out. My topic for the letter A is Aquarium. This is the first word that popped in my head when I thought of words that start with the letter A. In fact, that is how I choose all my post topics for this challenge. I am going to write about the first word that pops into my head that matches the corresponding letter. I hope this works for me! :)
An aquarium what do I think of when I hear that word? I think of big clear box that you can look at fish in. All my life I've been around aquariums. One of my earliest memories is of 30 gallon take we had. As an 8 year the aquarium was huge! My mom had this aquarium on top of a book case. That aquarium was my moms pride and joy. She raised Angel fish in it. My mom loves Angel fish. She thinks they are angelic like her. The angel fish in this aquarium were the size of an adults fist. At least several times as day my mom would stop what she was doing and watch the "Angel babies" for a while. Little did my mom know that those days of loving looking at her fish were about to change.
One night I was a in bed sound asleep when I was suddenly awakened to the sound of my mom screaming. I raced to the living room as fast as I could. I thought maybe the house was on fire or something. When I got there I saw her picking her poor angel fish up off the floor! The aquarium had cracked down the middle dumping water everywhere and throwing my mom's babies on the floor. Unfortunately the Angel fish did not survive this traumatic event. Not to mention the fact that many of the books in the bookcase were ruined. My mom never had another aquarium after that. I think it was because she missed her “Angel babies."

Have you ever had an aquarium? If so what did you have in it? Did you use it for something besides holding fish? I'd love to know.

Life Before and After

Life Before and After

During this Holy Week as we remember Christ death, burial and resurrection. I‘d think back to before I knew Christ as my Savior. I grew up in the Baptist church. In fact I go as far as to say that I was even conceived Baptist. I remember church being just a place that we had to go. Just like going to the grocery store, or gas station. I heard people talk of Jesus and life and death on the cross but I didn’t think that was real. That some how Jesus was just some story that grown ups told. In junior high I went down the pastor and making a profession of faith because my mother wanted me to not because I asked Jesus into my heart. I would act like a Christian- praying, being kind, inviting other to church and all the other things believers were supposed to but it was all a fake. I went on with this pseudo Christianity until college. In college, I was blessed with some wonderful Godly roommates. Living with 3 other girls you get to know each other really well. They had such a genuine love for God and a peace like I had never seen before. I had to find out more about it. It in my dorm room, my first semester of college that I genuinely asked Jesus to come into my heart.
Now I can’t imagine life without Him. . I am still amazed by His love and by the fact that God sent his only son to die on the cross for our sins. Every day with Jesus is sweet and precious. Yes, I still have struggles and trials but there is such comfort in knowing that I am not alone and that He is leading and guiding me. How has Christ impacted you life?
If you like to know more about Jesus I’d be happy to tell you more about Him. Just contact me.

Pride and Prejudice Book Club Answers Week 1

Pride and Prejudice Book Club Answers

Week 1

1. Would you like to live in England during the time that Pride and Prejudice took place? Why or Why not?  I don't think I would. I am afraid I would be out of my mind. All women did in those days was sit around trying to catch a husband and then after the were married raise a family.

2. Do anyone of the characters remind you of anyone you know?
Mrs. Bennett reminds me of my mother. She was always trying to play match maker with my sisters and I. She would also arrange "situations" where we could enter act with the man she liked for us.  Here matches never did work out.

3.  Charlotte Lucas says "Happiness in marriage is entirely a matter of chance."  What does this statment say about her? Do you agree or this statement? why or why not?  I think that this statement says that she would not marry for love but only for security as so many women did in those days. Some still do. I disagree with this statement. A lot of hard work goes into making a marriage happy. There is no matter of chance about it.

4. Why do you think Darcy is attracted to Elizabeth?
I think he is attracted to Elizabeth because she is not chasing after him. Like other women in the story. I also believe that he is attracted to her because they have similar personalities.

5.  What is your favorite part of the story so far?
My favorite part of the story is where Elizabeth goes to see about Jane after she falls ill. First of all, I think that it's sweet that she would walk all that way to go check on her sister. Secondly, I love the interaction of Darcy, Jane, Elizabeth, Mr.Bingley, and Miss Bingley.

.Post your answers on your page and link back to this page. You don't have just post answers to the questions you can post anything Jane Austen or Pride and Prejudice related.  Be sure to click on the Create a Link button at the bottom of this post. Enjoy! :)
