x,y,z

X, Y and Z
X is for X-files. My favorite sci-fi show. My husband begs to differ. His favorite sci-fi show is Stargate SG-1. X-Files is a classic. A 90's icon-like Friends. I was a skeptic of the show at first but I it brought out a lot of good points. Is there really life out there? There are also a couple of other reasons that I like the show.  First of all, I wasn't allowed to watch the show when I was growing up. My parent's thought the show was "weird" so I couldn't watch it. My sister would tape the show and when would watch it when mom and dad were gone. I know that's part of X-files appeal. The same way with the Simpsons.
I think David Duchovny is hot! I don't know what it is about him but I've always liked him.
Which show do you like better, X-Files or Stargate SG-1 ?

Y is for Young
Oh my goodness! I had an "old moment" yesterday! I'm sure I've probably had them before but yesterday was the first day I consciously did it. What I mean by "old moment" is when I do something that old people do.  Here's what I did. I was in census training. Our training class is mainly made up of 18-21 old guys. Needless to say they were talking about girls. Without thinking I began to give them my advice. Growing up I hated it when people older than me would give me advice. Now, I only wish I had listened.
Z is for zapped from Zumba
This morning was the first time I took the Zumba class offered at the gym. Oh my goodness. It's so much fun but I was totally zapped after it was over. I almost fell asleep in the shower in the woman's locker room. I feel awesome except for a few sore muscles. This was only the beginners class I can't wait to go to the advanced class. I'm gonna take it slow though.

W is for Water

W is for Water
I've been needing a mental health day-so I took it. I went with my friend Ev to Galveston Island.  Galveston is only about 45-1hour from where we leave so it's fantastic for a day trips. First we went to Moody Gardens. If you've never been to Moody Gardens you can find out more about it here. At first I was really bummed about Moody Gardens-they didn't have the Rainforest pyramid open and the Colonel Paddle Wheel Boat was closed. Those were the two attractions I had been really looking forward too. However, I decided not to let that ruin my day. I'm so glad that I didn't! We ended up going to the Aquarium pyramid at Moody Gardens. It was fantastic. Watching the fish swim. Is so relaxing. It reminded me about Matthew 6:30 where The Bible talks about how God clothes the lilies and how much more he will care for us.
The penguins by far were the coolest! They are so funny! There was this one penguin who kept following us as well walked around the penguin habitat. I think it might have been because I had a lot of yellow on and he/she thought I was a penguin! LOL
After Moody Gardens we went to Gaidos. I had never been to Gaidos before. I had heard it was this wonderful classy, swank restaurant along the sea wall with fantastic food. They were right. I've never had such wonderfully, fresh food! Usually food that fresh comes from home. I especially loved their crab cheesecake. No it's not a dessert-it's an appetizer and AMAZING appetizer. The baked mahi-mahi was good too. I can't wait to go back and have some of their world famous oysters!

No trip to the Galveston would be complete without stopping by Ben and Jerry's for some ice cream. I love their Pish Food! After lunch we made it to the beach. We choose to go to the west end of the island because its less developed. We drove right down to the shoreline and got out our chairs and blankets. I've never realize before how soothing the sound of the waves were. It was so relaxing. It seemed like the wind and sea washed all my worries and cares away.  After several hours we realized we had to come back to reality-like it or not.
I hope you've enjoyed my letter W post. I apologize for not having more pictures. I left my camera in my friends car. As soon as I can I will update this post with pictures I took. Have a wonderful Tuesday!

U and V

I honestly can't think of any of of my favorite things that start with U or V.  Oh wait I just thought of something for V. I love violin music. It's just awesome. The school I attended did not have an orchestra so I did not have a chance to learn to play the violin but I'd love to. Here's one of my favorite songs done with a violin cover. I hope you enjoy! http://youtu.be/wkr3Gj0jEyE

Top Ten Music

Hey ya'll. Sorry I'm a little late. This week has been crazy. I've had state testing at school and on top of that i've been sick. I was also not sure what to post for the letter T. I decided to post my top ten albums. Enjoy!

Top Ten Albums

Okay I'm a little late but here goes.

This is one of the hardest blog post I have ever written. I love music so it was huge task to decide on my favorite top 10.

1.

Liturgy Legacy & A Ragamuffin Band-Rich Mullins

Rich Mullin's "A liturgy, a legacy, and a ragamuffin band" is an incredible piece of work. Many diverse musical styles and themes run through the album, always challenging the listener.  Every track on this album is indispensably. It has depth, humanity, vulnerability, and emotion, and deserves to be ranked among the best albums ever made in my opinion.

2. Salvador
Salvador is my favorite Latin, salsa, funk, gospel group. The lyrics are so well put together and the rhythms will move your spirit that you'll be dancing.  There's not many Latin gospel group like this to grab your attention to the beat as well as your heart. Montana is still one of my favorite songs ever but I also really enjoy Crucified, and Healing.

3. Pink-greatest hits so far

I told you I have very eclectic taste in music. I listen to Pink because of her heart felt honest lyrics and great beat. She's not afraid to wear her heart on her sleeve. The songs are in chronological order, as all greatest hits albums should be, so you get an appreciation for the musical development of the artist and Pink is a really good example of this. Everything from her music to her lyrics to her vocal attitude has improved over the years to the point where her new songs at the end of this album are probably her strongest. Both "Raise Your Glass" and "F*** Perfect" are really strong songs with a killer vocal track that I can listen to over and over again.

4. George Strait-Strait out of the Box

I am living proof that you can take the girl out of the country but you can't take the country or country music out of the girl. I love this set because it has all his works up to until 1995. In my opinion his older songs are some of his best. I love "If you Ain't Lovin you Aint Living," "I Cross My Heart" and "You Look So Good in Love." I love George Strait because he never strays very far from his country roots.

5.  Carolyn Arends-Feel Free

Carolyn Arends is another oldie but a good. She was a round in the late 90's and early 2000 but nothing new from her in several years. That doesn't mean it's not good stuff thought. I read some where she put her career on hold to start a family.  Despite the fact that she doesn't have a recent album  what she has is powerful. Her deep thought provoking lyrics will keep you thinking about Life, Love, and God. I enjoy music but I enjoy even more is music that makes me think. And she definitely does that with songs like "New Year's Day", "Do We Dare" and "Father Thy Will Be Done"

6. Third Day-Conspiracy # 5
This cd really rocks hard and the band really puts out a great message about God's love for us as well as telling a little bit about God's plan for our lives. My favorite songs are--Peace, You Make Me Mad, and My Hope Is You. This one and the cd are lyrically very strong and factual regarding God's word and therefore very relevant for use in our in our lives. What a blessing to have such music in our "time"

7. D. C. Talk-Jesus Freak

D.C. Talk  what can I say. They were my favorite band as a teen and is still a sentimental favorite. They helped me to see that gospel and hymns weren't the only type of Christian music out there. They dealt with topics that Christians teens dealt with and some that we still deal with as adults. Such as living for Christ, race issues, failure, sex and everything in between. My favorite DC Talk songs are: "The Hardway" , "What if I Stumble.", "She that kind of Giirl," "Jesus Freak,"

8.Ray Charles-Genius
This album does justice to the genius of Ray Charles. Songwriter, Pianist, and vocalist you could say that Ray Charles did it all. This album pays tribute to his genius by having all his chart topping songs. His heart felt lyrics about life and love helped it to become one of my fantasy Island Favorites. The songs I especially like on the album are "America the Beautiful", "I've Gota a Woman","Georgia On My Mind", "Busted" and "Hit the Road Jack."

9.  Timeless-The Selah Collection

This collection is filled with passionate praise and worship. I also love how they integrate and arrange praise and worship songs with classic hymns. This album helps you focus on the Savior. The wonderful harmonies of the brother and sister in the group and incredible. This is album I like to listen to on rough days and refocus my mind on Christ. It's easy to do with wonderful songs such as "You Raise Me Up", "I need the every hour", and "Before The Throne of God above."

10. Alicia Keys-The Diary of Alicia Keys

Alicia Keys is one of my favorite artist of all time. I love her no nonsense, "Tell it like it is" approach to singing and song writing. Life and love from a woman's perspective. I also love how she incorporates the piano into her songs. It's a wonderful pop, R&B album. My favorite songs are "Diary", "If I Ain't Got You", and "If I Was Your Woman" and "Karma."

These are my top ten albums of all time. What are yours?
