How to Plant Your Garden

First, you come to the garden alone, while the dew is still on the roses.....

FOR THE GARDEN OF YOUR DAILY LIVING, 

PLANT THREE ROWS OF PEAS:

1. Peace of Mind

             2. Peace of Heart

                           3. Peace of Soul

PLANT FOUR ROWS OF SQUASH:

1. Squash gossip

2. Squash indeifference

3. Squash grumbling

4. Squash selfishness

PLANT FOUR ROWS OF LETTUCE:

 1.Lettuce be faithful

2. Lettuce be kind

3. Lettuce be patient

4. Let us really love one another

NO GARDEN IS WITHOUT TURNIPS:

1. Turnip for meetings

      2. Turnip for service

            3. Turnip to help one another

TO CONCLUDE OUR GARDEN WE MUST HAVE THYME:

1. Thyme for each other

         2. Thyme for family

                    3. Thyme for friends

WATER FREELY WITH PATIENCE AND CULTIVATE WITH LOVE.....

My Flower Bed Week 2


I'm so excited! My Moss Rose is blooming. Isn't it beautiful!

This plant is doing really well too even though I'm still not sure of the name. 

Here's a look at the bed overall. 

Unforntely my agave and yucca plants are not doing so hot. I did not realize you were only supposed to water them once a month not once a week. Ops. 

Hopefully they will mend. Have a wonderful weekend everybody! :)

Garden Bug

I've been bitten by a bug. The gardening bug! And I absolutely love it! Last weekend I finally planted our Easter Lillies. I was really nervous at first. I'm always a little apprehensive the first time I do something because i don't know what to expect. It went great though. Despite getting a a splinter in my hand from the railroad timbers that make up our flower bed. It was so therapeutic to dig around, pull weeds and play in the dirt. I can't wait to get some more things to plant. To all my garden friends-is it to late to plant any thing else this year-like flowers? Do you know of any "low maintenance" flowers for garden newbies like me?

Do you have a hobby that is therapeutic and brings you joy? I'd love to hear about it.

Going Green Thumbed?

Back when I was doing my New Years Resolutions I said I was plant a garden this Spring. Well I had totally forgotten about it till I read my friends blog at Alamo North . After reading the post I realized I have no clue about gardening. I don't even know where to start. So my fellow bloggers who garden, I have a TON of questions for you. Okay not a ton but several. Here they go.  How did you get started gardening? What's a good thing to garden for a "newbie?" Where do you find out what your zone is? Tips? Suggestions?
Any advice would be great!

I am going to war. No I did not join the service. I am declaring war on a plant. A weed actually-morning glories. They can have the roses bushes. They were left her by the previous owner and are a thorn in my side. I couldn't resist the pun. :) However, I will not allow them to take over my hibiscus plant! Here is a picture of the evil vine around my hibiscus.
