7 Quick Take For Friday

1. Well I'm finally back on my computer. My and my hubby's laptops both kicked the bucket about the same time. I didn't know computer withdraws would be so bad! :) Thankfully it turned out there was only a problem with my power cord. My hubby's computer wasn't so lucky

2. As if that wasn't enough the alternator in my car when out too. When it rains it pours I guess. Thankfully we have a friend who works on cars. He was able to fix it quickly without costing us two arms and a leg. :)

3. On a positive note, while my car and computer was broken I was able to get a lot of work done around the house. We've lived here for almost 2 years and we still haven't completely unpacked. I made a big dent in the pile of boxes still waiting to be unpacked.

4. It's hotter than heck. It rained the last two weeks. In retrospect, I would gladly take rain over heat any old day! I think I am going to move to Alaska and be a reverse snow bird. I WISH! :)

5. School is in the air. This summer has flown by. I can't believe the kids go back the 22. I am starting to think this old adage is true-"The older you get-the faster time seems to fly."

6. I am excited to be going back to work. I will be starting the school year as a long term substitute teacher in a special education sever and profound class. Teaching the kids is not what concerns me. They will be fine. It's the aids I will be over that concerns me. I've never been boss over anyone and I'm more than a little nervous. Any advice on dealing with others? Particularly when you in charge over them?

7. Tomorrow will be the first woman's retreat that we are having at our church. I'm super excited about it. The theme of the retreat is "Recipe for Life." We will be cooking and learning what the Biblical Recipe for life is.

What's going on with you? I hope everyone has a great day and a fabulous weekend!

7 Quick Takes for Friday +1

1. My nephew got married last Saturday. It was a beautiful wedding and everyone had a lovely time. You can take a look at some of the photos I took on My Wordless Wednesdaypage.

2. I got my camera back! It had been damaged and I sent it to Nikon because it was still under warranty. I got it back just in time for the rehearsal dinner. Thanks Nikon!

3. I went to the Doctor Tuesday to discuss some test results and  the doctor thinks that there could be something wrong with my gall bladder.

4. I had to go to the medical center in Houston yesterday to have a sonogram on my gall bladder. I hate driving in traffic. Thankfully my daddy drove me! I should no the results no later than Tuesday or Wednesday. I am hoping that it can be treated without surgery.

5. My mom, dad and sister are still staying with us. They do not know how long they are going to be here. It depends on #3 and #4

6. Sophie absolutely adores having her Aunt Donna here right now. She loves her aunt almost as much as her Mommy and Daddy. I am not looking forward to my sister going home. Sophie will miss her greatly and so will I.

7. I recently joined two more book reviews. They are Glass Road Public Relations and Tyndale.com
I have yet to receive any books though. Some are in the mail-hopefully.

8. I just found out about my test results. (See #3 and #4) I have a fatty liver. They couldn't find any gall stones but my gall bladder was elongated and they are referring me to a hepatologist to see if he can figure out what's wrong.

7 Quick Takes

1. EVERYTHING HAPPENS FOR A REASON! I mean it! Today I was running late to work. I don't like being late-at all!  Well I was on the freeway and I came up behind this bus. I was going to pass it but something said "DON'T PASS!" It sounded like an audible voice. Looking back in retrospect I believe it was the Holy Spirit trying to warn me. Not even a couple of minutes later the bus and a couple of cars directly in front of the bus were in an accident. I couldn't tell what exactly happened from where but I vividly remember seeing the rear axle and tires flying off the bus. Thankfully everyone in the accident was ok. Just remember all things work together for GOOD!
2. Birthday-Yesterday was my hubby's birthday. We had a wonderful evening together. I painted a picture for him and gave him the first season of "Lie to me." Matt loves that show. We are going to Outback today! I can't wait to sink my teeth into some "Chocolate Thunder From Down Under!" It's gluten free! I'm so happy about that. I'll post some pics soon of the birthday celebration.
3. Lent-2 days down and so far so good. Giving up facebook was really hard at first. My phone kept sending me all these facebook messages! I thought I was gonna go crazy before I turned the phone messages off.  I haven't had any conversations hearts either.  I think the fact that I have to go to the doctor next week is helping me say no. hehe. The Beth Moore book I am reading is fantastic. See #5
4. Camera-My camera bit the dust this week. Well it had a little help. Hopefully Nikon can fix it and get it back to me soon. Thankfully it's under warrenty.
5. Beth Moore- I am reading So Long Insecurity by Beth Moore. I've only finished the first chapter but it's so eye opening. I thought I was alone in my struggle with insecurity. Turns out I am not! I think this book might be a good thing to use at our women's retreat later this year.
6 wedding- I can't believe that my nephew's wedding is in two weeks! Time to finish the last minute cleaning and declutter. My mom, dad, sister will be staying  with us. I hope my camera is back by then. If not I may have to go get cheapie digital camera.  I know the disposal digital camera will not satisfy a photo bug like me.
7. Blog- I made some changes to my blog. I would love to hear what you think of them. Any ideas, tips, and suggestions would be greatly appreicated. I want share a Bible verse. My friend over at http://www.extravagantgrace.net/ posted a lovely verse and made it into a book mark. I wanted to share it with everyone. Have a safe and blessed weekend.

7 Quick Takes For Friday...I mean Saturday!

1. I am feeling much better today. My sinus infection is finally on the mend. You'll never believe what did it. Apple Cider Vinegar. I am not normally a fan of home rememdies but a friend told me about it and it really works. You can find out more about the health benefits of apple cider vinegar here.

2. It's finally stopped raining here. It rained for 3 days this week and they are saying rain for most of next week. To bad there arent' any fish in Lake Fleisher! :) LOL

3. Last night was first night of my Financial Peace University Class. It teaches you how to live a life of financial peace. An oxymoron right? I thought so too at first but what Dave Ramsey has to say really makes sense. Here's what his website says about the class. Financial Peace University (FPU) is Dave's life-changing program that teaches you to achieve your financial goals by eliminating debt, saving for the future, and giving like never before. More than 1 million families have attended FPU with amazing results. You will be challenged and motivated to make a plan for your money and change your family tree forever!

4. My nephews wedding is a little over a month away. My parents, sister as well as my aunt and uncle are coming to stay with us for the wedding. So I've started cleaning and decluttering the house. Why do I always wait so late to get started.

5.  Work is still slow to nill. I've been averaing about 3 and 1/2 days of work per two week pay period. Not much but I am holding on to the fact that I know God will take care of us. Yet still sometimes I worry and stress about it. I wonder if I will every get to that point in my faith where I completely trust God.

6. Our church kicked off our Relay for Life team this past Sunday. We are going to "Lick Cancer". So we are selling lollipops as our main fundraiser for the relay. If you'd like to make a donation or join our team go to www.bayarearelay.org and click on the donate button and then choose the Redeemer Lutheran Church team. Thank you so much for your support.

7. I didn't mean to spend so much time on the above post.
8. Thankfull  that I do not live up north. My parent's have had snow all this week and they are expecting more snow in the coming week. I will take rain and wind over snow any day!

9. I want the Saints to win the Super Bowl. The Colt's have been to the Super Bowl before and the Saints haven't. Besides, I am Southern girl and I want a Southern team to win

10. I will not be watching the Super Bowl. My TV doesn't pick up that channel and we do not have cable or satellite. Besides, I only like the commercials and I can watch them without the football interruptions on www.hulu.com
